Goshen Wins First Place Trophy at the Division B Mid-Hudson Regional Competition

The Goshen Junior Science Olympiad team had a successful day at the Mid-Hudson Division B Regional tournament this past weekend, placing first overall in the competition and securing a spot at the State Finals on April 13th-14th. On Saturday, Goshen’s two teams, consisting of 31 students, competed at the event while several of the Science Olympiad Senior Team members volunteered their time to assist the Monroe-Woodbury School District with running the tournament. Students competed in events such as Microbiology, Forensics, Optics, Thermodynamics, and Anatomy and Physiology. Goshen's Division B Teams earned 36 medals including:

  • Crime Busters: Second place

  • Disease Detective: First place and Third place

  • Duct Tape Challenge: Third place

  • Dynamic Planet: Second place

  • Ecology: First place and Second

  • Experimental Design: First place and Second place

  • Fast Fact: Third place

  • Herpetology: Second place and Third place

  • Hovercraft: First place

  • Meteorology: First place

  • Microbe Mission: First place

  • Optics: First place and Second place

  • Parasitology: First place and Second place

  • Potions & Poisons: First place and Second place

  • Road Scholar: First place

  • Rocks & Minerals: First place and Third place

  • Science Quiz Bowl: Second place

  • Solar Systems: First place and Third place

  • Thermodynamics: First place and Second place

  • Towers: First place and Third place
