SCIENCE OLYMPIAD
"Science is a way of thinking much more than it is a body of knowledge."
~Carl Sagan
Science Olympiad is a national non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of K-12 science education, increasing male, female and minority interest in science, creating a technologically-literate workforce and providing recognition for outstanding achievement in science education by students. These goals are achieved by participating in academic interscholastic tournaments, which consist of 25 events students prepare for during the year. The events cover various science disciplines including biology, earth science, chemistry, physics, physical science, astronomy, anthropology, engineering, medicine, computers, and technology.
GOSHEN SCIENCE OLYMPIAD
The Goshen Science Olympiad Team is coached by a dedicated group of educational professionals who donate copious amounts of time to our students. The team's head coach is Becky DenDanto, and she is supported by assistant coaches Laura Muller and Warren Young. Volunteer coaches Devra Mistretta, Greg Foster, and Christina Pahucki as well as numerous community volunteers including Glen Barnes, Varuni Kondagunta, Mirilini Yeddu, and Stephen Hill assist the students in preparing for their events.

02
Our Science Olympiad Team is made up of a Senior Team, consisting of ninth through twelfth grade students, and a Junior Team, consisting of sixth through eighth grade students. Both teams compete in one invitational tournament, followed by a regional competition. One team of 15 students plus alternates will then compete in the New York State Competition. Participants compete in partnerships, aiming to achieve the highest placement in each event for the team. The Senior Team participates in Science Olympiad Division C Events and the Junior Team particpates in Division B Events.

/ GSOO PARENT SUPPORT GROUP
The Goshen Science Olympiad Organization (GSOO) is a parent/guardian support group that actively supports the Goshen Science Olympiad Team by providing additional fiscal support for the team. The group also raises funds for the Charlene Kleiverik Memorial Scholarship Fund to provide college scholarships to graduating Goshen High School students who have participated in Science Olympiad.
